LASSO
LASSO (Analyse et modélisation de la Localisation et de l’Activité des Sources SOnores dans l’espace urbains) is an I-site Future Project of Univ. Gustave Eiffel, in collaboration with Pierre Aumond [homepage] from UMRAE.

Two master trainees have been funded by this grant, Jonathan Siliézar Montoya [Master thesis] and Ludovic Moisan[report]

Urban sound environments directly affect people's health and quality of life. At the city level, its usual representation of is limited to the annual average noise level of transport-related noise. The LASSO project proposes to integrate in the analysis and modelling of the urban sound environment, the specificities of all the sound sources that influence our perceptions: birdsong, pedestrians' voices, etc.

Based on an analysis of the link between urban morphology, land use and the location and activity of sound sources, the aim will be to integrate them into the NoiseModelling software, and to compare the modelling results with two available databases: Paysages sonores Nantais and NoiseCapture. The final results will be presented in the form of thematic cartographies, among other cartographies on LASSO soundscaping Platform.

Illustration is from a previous work of Pierre Aumond.
